OUTDOOR SEASON 2025
Season runs May 20 - August 16, 2025:
The AMBUSC mission has always been to provide appropriate soccer programs for all ages including our Mini group for Under 4 to Under 8 year olds.
Ontario Soccer has created a Long Term Player Development program that guides clubs how to train players at each age. The Mini Program is designed to optimize fundamental skills to help children feel competent & comfortable participating in a variety of fun and challenging soccer-based games. At the same time we ensure players are having fun while giving them the base and foundation of skills and knowledge needed to continue development as they progress with their soccer career.
U4 and U5 players train once a week at 6PM on Thursdays. The age group leader will coach the group with help from parent and student player volunteers with a focus on ball mastery and play within their age group to maximize their learning experience.
U6 players will train on Tuesdays at 6PM led by the age group leader with help from parent and student player volunteers to work on ball control, movement, passing and small sided situational game play. There will be 3 additional fun days from 9AM-11AM on Saturdays June 21, July 19 and August 16 to learn more about game play.
U7 and U8 players will play on Mondays and Wednesdays at 6PM with designated practice and game nights. On training nights players will be led in practice sessions by the age group leader with help from parent and student player volunteers. On game nights teams will learn about small sided game play with parent and student player volunteers while continuing to develop ball control, movement, passing and game situation knowledge.
The mini program helps players prepare for the move to youth program play in leagues with games against other clubs.

NOTE registration received after March 23 may not guarantee a place on a team
The program begins the week after the May long weekend with meet the coach night and moves into training the following week. On the first night we have team lists and field maps posted to indicate where age groups will play each week with club officials on hand to help direct traffic and answer any questions. We end the season with a fun day and Mini Banquet from 9am-1pm on August 16.

AMBUSC/OVFC may identify players in the U8 age group to offer a development pathway. These players may be invited to participate in festivals (tournaments) in and around the Ottawa area over the summer.
We are proud to continue to work with Tim Hortons for our mini program sponsorship and are very grateful for all the support they give us providing uniforms and balls for all our mini players. Shin pads are required with socks to cover and cleats are recommended but not mandatory (running shoes with good tread are acceptable).
In order for this great program to run, we need the help of a number of volunteers so our children can participate and play. We are looking for helper coach volunteers (2 per team is ideal). Anyone with an interest in soccer is welcome regardless of experience: parents or students that can earn volunteer hours. Ontario Soccer Coaching Certification and Training courses are available throughout the year and the cost will be covered by the club upon completion for anyone interested in coaching with the club.
